Gaila is the one who suggested they make a sign.
“No Jims Allowed,” she says brightly.
“How about no pubescent genius idiots allowed?” McCoy suggests, crossing his arms heavily as he shakes his head. “I can’t believe you sleep with the man on a regular basis. You know, ever since I met you, I thought you had a good brain in that head of yours, but you make me question it every time I smell his cologne on your skin.”
“So you can be in love with him, but because I’m in love with him and I get to sleep with him, I’m the idiot?” Gaila echoes as she hands him the scalpel. They’re in one of the smaller labs to go over xenosurgical techniques because Gaila wants to ace her class and he’s the best tutor on campus. “Len, jealousy is ugly and you’re a handsome man.”
McCoy scowls heavily and takes the scalpel, gesturing to the cadaver with more force than he really needs as he explains the incisions she’s going to make. “I am not in love with him,” he scowls. “I just have a healthy appreciation and addiction to his presence.”
“Is that how you proposed to your wife?” Gaila wonders curiously. “Because I’m starting to wonder why she ever said yes!”
“Just make the cuts,” he grumbles, unable to help the flooding feeling of warmth and satisfaction that pulses through him as she begins to perform a job well done and reassures him that he still picks the brightest people when it comes to making the few friends that he does have.
Even if she persists in sleeping with Jim while he doesn’t get to.
The world ain’t fair, though, and McCoy knows that better than anyone.

Keep telling yourself that, Len.
I love that their friends, that he doesn't let jealousy get in the way, but still takes pride in her abilities and accomplishments. Such a good man. She should really invite him for a threesome. ;)
