Title: Walking To The Light

Title: Walking To The Light
Fandom: House M.D.
Pairing: House, Chase
Prompt: White
Word Count: 278
Rating: PG
Author's Notes: Chase wants to know more about the white light.
Chase only broached the subject a grand total of once with him, even though House could tell he was bursting with curiosity on the subject. He'd waited until both Cameron and Foreman were gone - which wasn't a surprise, after all; Chase dreaded revealing too many personal secrets to an audience of one, even. It wasn't that long after House's lecture, couldn't have been more than two weeks since that'd happened.
Chase was sitting in House's chair, idly tossing the large tennis ball back and forth - it had been a joke gift from Chase himself about how House's fellows were essentially like his pet puppies.
"You said you saw a light," Chase finally initiated the conversation, studying House carefully. "When you went into arrest, you said you saw a light."
House limped inside the office, evicting Chase from his chair, all with the power of his mind. They switched positions like clockwork - House in his chair, Chase sitting opposite. Chase picked up the ball again, passing it back and forth.
"You saw a light," Chase reiterated.
"And you want to know if it was heaven? Chase, the white light is a chemical…"
"I don't want an explanation," Chase cut him off tersely. "What did you see?"
House paused, watching the crisis of faith flickering over Chase's face. There was absolutely no harm in just saying it. "I saw a white light." Chase seemed to relax in his chair, relinquishing the ball. "It felt warm."
That seemed to be what Chase was looking for. He eased back, nodded once, and uttered a simple, 'thank you,' before leaving the room and leaving House to recount that strange white light.
