Title: First Impressions
Fandom: House M.D.
Pairing: none
Prompt: Who?
Word Count: 240
Rating: PG-13
Author's Notes: First impressions.
He’s a genius by reputation, but Chase had never known what to expect from the legendary Gregory House. He’s younger than he looks and far older than he acts and the cane stops being an awkward third person between them and morphs into an inclusive appendage without Chase even noticing. His hands are more active than most doctors with tenure and he commands respect, even if he’s just dissecting the moral consequences of the OC. He’s tall; Chase has never met someone so much taller than him that wasn’t his father.
He’s wholly, simply, completely House.
He’s different and Chase revels in that, because it makes him different by extension to have been chosen to work by his side.
*
House had hired him because his father never came up with a good reason not to. He hadn’t expected the Abercrombie model – Chase had worn a t-shirt under his suit jacket for the interview, for God’s sake. All blonde hair and blue eyes and oral fixation and he’s younger than any other fellow House has hired, but he’s not that stupid, considering. Just naïve in the ways of life and patients.
But he takes all of House’s abuse; every push that comes to shove is just absorbed. House likes the guy because of that. Because a sadist can never surround himself with enough masochists.
And as nice as it is to have Wilson, there’s always room for more.
