"I cannot believe this."

Sam is standing over the seal and watching Josh Lyman roam the office, staring at everything as if it isn't actually real and it's just a deceptive front that's going to evaporate at any moment in time. He fiddles with his glasses and manages to take three telephone calls in the time that Josh spends ogling (one to treasury, one to the Hill, and one to Ainsley to tell her that the kids need to finish their project and their topic of choice is not going to be the ERA). He hangs up and peers at Josh, awaiting response.

"You know," Sam notes wryly, "I'm fairly sure there was some media coverage about this."

"What, you being elected President? Yeah, I think some podunk station picked it up," Josh jokes and that smile of his slowly builds on his face. "President Seaborn. I'll be honest, though, Sam. I'm less impressed by your accomplishment in earning this office as I am in you both marrying Ainsley and getting her to take your name. You drugged her, didn't you?"

"I appealed to her better nature."

"The one where she's First Lady and gets to push her agenda in the courts?"

"That's the one," Sam swiftly agrees.

And just like that, though they've spent years apart, it immediately feels like no time at all has passed and they're just two young kids all over again.
