Title: Howl
Fandom: House M.D.
Pairing: None
Prompt: Moon
Word Count: 284
Rating: PG
Author's Notes: Things go bump in the night.

On nights where there’s a full-moon, sometimes Chase wonders just how much it affects the halls of Princeton-Plainsboro. He’s there to pull a graveyard shift and make it to dawn without accidentally offing anyone and everyone he’s talked to tonight has commented on the moon, like it’s a person, like it’s going to pull someone’s IV out, or cause a seizure, or worse yet, turn all their patients into werewolves.

Which is stupid, right?

He does jump when he hears the sound of someone howling until he realizes that wolves don’t lurk around hospital hallways and of course, House is still around and is more than likely having a go with him. He almost doesn’t stop in the halls to wait for him, but he’s Chase and House is House and still his boss, so he does wait until House can catch up.

“I don’t think werewolves like the blood of a pretty-haired Brit,” House assures him.

“Why does everyone keep talking about the full moon?” Chase mutters as he reads the charts and he doesn’t even see the cane in front of his feet before he goes sprawling head over heels onto his arse, staring up at House from the floor. “What’d you do that for!” he protests, the beginnings of mild bruises already screaming in protest.

“Proving a point.”

“What point could that possibly prove?” Chase demands.

“Full moon,” House says, pointing upwards. “It’s bad luck.”

Chase bites his tongue before he can comment that the only bad luck is his lack of initiative to get out of there. The only bad luck in the halls of Princeton walks around and has three legs and isn’t full of anything but himself.
