Title: Chase-Watching
Fandom: House M.D.
Pairing: House, Chase
Prompt: Sight
Word Count: 282
Rating: PG
Amongst the nurses, a very popular hobby had taken off, revolving around the watching of Robert Chase. It was a little like stalking, except definitely more on the legal side. Bird watching without the trouble of buying birdseed. House lurked behind the experts one day, just to see how it was done.
"He matches," one mused. House glanced down the hall to see Chase in a navy blue v-neck sweater with a pale blue tie and white shirt. Huh. He did match. This was definitely a novelty. "You think he's sleeping with anyone?" House took a closer look, wondering if maybe that was Jimmy's sweater. No, definitely not. It fit Chase too perfectly to be anyone else's. The nurses walked along slightly to a better vantage point and House followed, curious to see where this went next.
"At least it brings out his eyes," the other one sighed, like Chase was some Tiger Beat pin-up. "And he's lightened his hair again."
House inspected closer while Chase filled out paperwork. So he had. He really should just hover more often and let the rest of the hospital staff do all his snooping for him, like volunteers. Chase filed away the papers and checked his watch.
"Hide!" One of the women hissed and they scattered like a formation of birds breaking. House just stood there, openly staring and enjoying the way Chase seemed to wilt under it when he noticed.
He came to a stop in front of House. "What are you looking at?" he asked warily.
"You."
That ought to make him paranoid just a little while longer. House clasped his cane and turned to walk away, smiling conspiratorially to himself.
